The director of Messengers, Yasuo Baba brings Ryoko Hirosue (Beach Boys, Poppoya) and Hiroshi Abe (Hero, Musashi) together with a time travel story, the time machine itself is a washing machine from Hitachi! The mission is to travel back to 1990 and save Japan’s economy from imploding as the bubble bursts, also starring Fukiishi Kazue (Yamada Taro Monogatari, Bambino!) and Hitori Gekidan (First Kiss, Densha Otoko). I’ve always enjoyed time travel stories and this is no exception with a funny storyline and a reminiscent look at the recent past. Ryoko plays a 23 year old hostess, and does a dance that stops the party in 1990. This movie is highly recommended if you liked Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure , Pink Panther, Proposal Daisakusen or Wasabi, I think you’ll find a lot to enjoy, don’t bother watching it if your looking for a deep science fiction storyline or the reasons for the Japanese economic problems of the early 90’s as pointed out at this blog you won’t find them.
