This 63-minute disc is a project conceived and compiled by Bill Laswell and Robert Soares, featuring a collection of modern dubs by Sacred System (Laswell & Zami Khan), Mad Professor, Simm, DXT, Him, Almamegretta, Transonic (Robert Musso), Umoya, and Ben Wa. An eclectic range of music, from far eastern raga to electrified reggae to urban turntable manipulation.
These tunes, already dense, are impassioned by the effects and contortions of the application of studio technology. The music is twisted and reverbed into altogether new sonic creatures. Lively rhythms blend with quirky soundscapes, often heavy with sampled riffs and vocal snippets.
The theme of this odd collection of dubs is the application of hard science to otherwise traditional musical genres. The result is quite interesting.
