Open Question: Window XP log in as Administrator account, but still can't install software. Help!!?

Window XP log in as Administrator account, but still can't install software. Did anyone know why? Try reboot, no luck. Double check the Administrator account, it does have full control. But when try to install window xp office, it complaint I don't have full control. Moreover, I did turn on firewall, double checked. But the right bottom still keep pop up a balloon that I don't have firewall turn on???

If I can save it by anyway I don't want to reinstall the os. Thanks.

Open Question: Paperless Documentation Processes?

I work for a small community bank in Pennsylvania. As an organization, we're looking to implement new processes that will allow us to process new accounts, account modification requests and so forth without the need for paper. We would like to take documents straight from their digital environment, put them along a workflow, and when finished archive them.

We are currently using imaging to archive all of our reports, Check Images and so forth. We would like to continue using this, but expand our methods of putting data into it. Where at present we do a lot of scanning, we should instead just be able to import that data.

Does anyone out there use processes for working paperless? What software solutions have you invested in? Would it be possible to tour your office to better understand the paperless process and what requirements go into it?

A friend of mine, who i work with bought this computer in Detroit some time ago second hand. he moved here (PA) recently and hooked up his computer for the first time since he actually really bought it.. problem is the girl who had it Admin pass locked it, so now he cant install software etc without admin clearance. ive tried various softwares ophcrack etc to no avail. it just just keeps telling me theres no password.. how do i fix this? he gave it to me because i know a little more than he does, but im still no expert.. is there a way i can manually change it?. also theres a D partition which im guessing is a system recovery drive. however at boot up i see no hotkey for recovery. its a compaq 5000 with windows xp. if anyone could help me out id be grateful. tnx in advance

ok, i was going through my email and i stupidly opened this one from this person i didn't know, and then this warning came up that my computer had been infected by some virus and it brought me to this web page were i could download some software to get rid of the virus. but the web page was for windows users and im on a mac so i couldn't download it.

Here at the office we have 7 computers networked. Three of them are for the administrators and we're having no issues with them. I'm wanting to download a large file off the internet via my Rapidshare account. The only problem is that this software is split into 80 different .rar's meaning 80 different links!

I personally find it quite boring copying and pasting all those links. Is there a download manager which is able to automatically see those links and download them?

Resolved Question: Installation issues with Vista, HP PSC 1510, and "Run as" installation?

The new computer has Vista. The PSC 1510 All-in-One is my two-year-old worked-fine-on-XP printer. Actually the printer works fine with Vista, it's the software to use the scanner that won't install.

When I try to install the scan utilities from the disk (or the hard drive, since I copied the files to a temp folder also), I first get an error about incorrect OS - the usual "Not compatible with Windows 6.0".

So I ran the installation executable in XP-compatible SP2 mode. This time the error is "Unable to install in 'Run As' Mode" and tells me to install from administrator's account. My account is the administrator- I executable as administrator anyway. Same error message.

I ran HP's driver check-up and it came back fine. I tried to install the driver downloaded from the website - same issue.

Is there a way to make the installation software think it's not being used in "Run as" mode?

This person has used my computer before. I refer to Ubuntu, it out performs Vista on almost all accounts.

Ubuntu will run faster on 512mb RAM with the full Compiz Fusion package engaged, than Vista will run on 1gb RAM and struggles with its own inferior Aero.

There is no shortage of open source software that runs variuos applications bundled with Ubuntu, with Vista you need to spend even more on dedicated software.
